Colonel’s got talent!

by Kristen Fairbanks ‘16  |  Colonel Richardson’s talent show was hosted on May 14. It took place in our very own auditorium so all of our lovely performers could be on stage. This year, the talent show was won by a freshman!

Mr. Sousa, director of the talent show, said, “I think it went really well. We had a small group but everyone had a good shot at winning.”

First place went to freshman Nichole Roop, who sang the song “Feelin’ Good” by Nina Simone. Her prize was $300 cash.

Other performers included singers Katelyn Metz, Tallon Deneau, and Michelle Massey. Joey Sharpley played guitar and Matt Wilson played drums. Mrs. Anderson, Spanish teacher and singer, also performed, although she did not compete for the prize.

In keeping with tradition, Cookie Stewart and Sara Dove were the emcees. The judges included Colonel graduate and country music singer Eric Karge, Colonel graduate and substitute teacher Larell Richards, and freshman Connor McAlpine.

Sophomore Sam Smith went out to watch the talent show. “There were a lot of talented music groups. But the show needed more people,”he said.

The talent show has traditionally included more contestants, and will likely return to that status next year.
